About Gabrielle Scott 

Gabrielle Scott is a San Francisco based freelance director and editor. Originally from the Boston area, she obtained her Master’s degree in Visual and Critical Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Scott then moved to San Francisco and joined the post department at Goodby Silverstein & Partners, later becoming a full time lead staff editor at Avocados and Coconuts production house. ​
 

Scott's directorial focus is on the non-linear – the cyclical interactions people have with their shifting landscapes and the philosophies that drive them. She has directed and edited award-winning short films, including Angela Wilson, a butcher's story about a female butcher and small business owner in San Francisco, Zoe, a surf story, a portrait of a young and ambitious surfer from Half Moon Bay, and A Certain Personality which reveals the philosophies of big wave women surfers of Northern California and their affinity for mother ocean.  Her most recent award winning short film The Dolphins, captures one of San Francisco’s most iconic institutions: the historic Dolphin Swimming and Boating Club, and a community forged in cold water.

A regular open water swimmer in the San Francisco Bay herself, Scott also started and still hosts a quarterly women-in-film salon, and smokes a mean rack of ribs on her backyard smoker.
